Facebook Hits 1.71B users, records $6.44 in 2016

Facebook has announced the financial results for Q2, 2016. The social network giant has recorded $6.44 billion revenue for the quater which ended on june 30, 2016.
Facebook said it now has over 1.7 billion monthly active users adding 60million new users since the last quater. With a daily average of 1.13 billion active users (DAU), an inrease of 17%year over year.
The social network had over 1.57 billion mobile users. Facebook announced another milestone of 1.03billion mobile daily active users (recording a 22% increase over the years).

The founder and CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg said,

OUR COMMUNITY AND BUSINESS HAD ANOTHER GOOD QUARTER. WE'RE PARTICULARLY PLEASED WITH OUR PROGRESS IN VIDEO AS WE MOVE TOWARDS A WORLD WHERE VIDEO IS AT THE HEART OF ALL OUR SERVICES.

Mobile advertising revenue recorded approximately 84% of advertising revenue for the second quarter of 2016, up to from approximately 76% of advertising revenue in the second quarter of 2015.

Meet the 8-year-old girl raised by monkeys

An 8-year-old girl was found living with monkeys in a remote nature reserve in Bahraich, northern India. The girl has now been dubbed Mowgli 2.0 because of the similarity of her story with the story of the boy in The Jungle Book who was brought up by wolves. The girl was discovered by a group of woodcutters working in the area who then alerted government officials and she was rescued from the region near the Nepal border. The girl did not seem happy about being uprooted from the only home she knows, she then screeched like a monkey, which it was soon discovered is the only way she knows how to communicate. It was also discovered that the girl could not walk like a human and instead moved on all fours, the way animals do and she runs away at the sight of humans. WAEC Approves New Examination For Private Candidates As From 2018

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has said it had approved the commencement of an additional diet in its examination for the private candidates every year. Announcing the approval at a news conference in Lagos on Thursday, the council’s Registrar, Iyi Uwadiae, said the move was in connection with the growing concerns among stakeholders over what they perceived as discrimination or denial of equal opportunity to private candidates. “WAEC conducts its West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) twice every year, in May/June for school candidates and in November/December for private candidates. “The council also conducts various national examinations in the member countries except Nigeria. “Now, the school candidates who wish to retake the examination usually have the opportunity of doing so with the private candidates’ examination. “With this development, there has been a wave of agitation, criticisms and appeal across the sub-region...
