Meet the 8-year-old girl raised by monkeys

An 8-year-old girl was found living with monkeys in a remote nature reserve in Bahraich, northern India. The girl has now been dubbed Mowgli 2.0 because of the similarity of her story with the story of the boy in The Jungle Book who was brought up by wolves. The girl was discovered by a group of woodcutters working in the area who then alerted government officials and she was rescued from the region near the Nepal border. The girl did not seem happy about being uprooted from the only home she knows, she then screeched like a monkey, which it was soon discovered is the only way she knows how to communicate.  It was also discovered that the girl could not walk like a human and instead moved on all fours, the way animals do and she runs away at the sight of humans. Authorities say she seemed comfortable among the apes at Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary, close to the border with Nepal. WAEC Approves New Examination For Private Candidates As From 2018

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has said it had approved the commencement of an additional diet in its examination for the private candidates every year. Announcing the approval at a news conference in Lagos on Thursday, the council’s Registrar, Iyi Uwadiae, said the move was in connection with the growing concerns among stakeholders over what they perceived as discrimination or denial of equal opportunity to private candidates. “WAEC conducts its West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) twice every year, in May/June for school candidates and in November/December for private candidates. “The council also conducts various national examinations in the member countries except Nigeria. “Now, the school candidates who wish to retake the examination usually have the opportunity of doing so with the private candidates’ examination. “With this development, there has been a wave of agitation, criticisms and appeal across the sub-region for the counc

WhatsApp to start up UPI-based payment system in India

WhatsApp which is owned by facebook is finally going to implement the online payment system, starting first with India, its biggest market in the world. The company is said to be working on a system based on India’s UPI or Unified Payments Interface to allow person to person transactions. The UPI system was borne out of India’s drive towards a cashless digital economy and has been adopted by all the major banks and even some services such as Truecaller. Facebook currently has a job opening for Digital Transactions Lead, India in Menlo Park, California, with one of the job requirements being ‘Ability to understand and explain UPI, BHIM, Aadhar number’.   Speaking to Bloomberg, WhatsApp said it wants to “contribute more to India’s vision for digital commerce.” While India might be the first market on WhatsApp’s roadmap it will eventually bring this feature to other markets.
